USE

BK-Wood Effect is a mineral mortar intended for the decorative protection of interior and exterior surfaces. It is characterized by excellent adhesion to mineral surfaces, exceptional water repellency and resistance to weather elements and UV radiation. It has high vapor permeability and excellent resistance to the development of microorganisms. BK-Wood Effect is produced exclusively in white and is subsequently painted with a transparent BK-Velatura or BK-AquaLasur coating, after at least 24 hours of drying under normal conditions.

PREPARATION AND APPLICATION

The surface onto which the mortar is applied must be flat, dry, clean, free of loosely bonded parts, dust, water-soluble salts, grease and other impurities that can prevent good adhesion to the substrate. Suitable substrates are cement-lime mortars, reinforcing layer of thermal insulation systems, plasterboard and cement-fiber boards. Before applying the decorative mortar, coat the surface with BK-Grund Universal. The mass is prepared by adding the powder to about 25% water until a homogeneous mass without lumps is obtained (20 kg of powder requires approx. 5l of water). Leave the mass to rest for 10-15 minutes, mix once more before applying and, if necessary, add water to adjust the consistency. Use up the prepared mass within 2 hours. BK-Wood Effect is applied in two layers with a stainless steel trowel. Apply the first layer evenly in an approximate thickness of 1-2 mm. The second layer is applied after complete drying of the first (about 6 hours when drying under normal conditions) in a thickness of 2-3 mm.

Creating the texture of natural wood is done by pressing the Decor mold Wood Effect rubber mold into the mortar at the moment when the material hardens to the extent that it is not sticky to the touch. The optimal time for painting the structure is 30-40 minutes under normal working conditions. In order to fully achieve the effect of a wooden board with a rubber mold, it is necessary to coat the mold with BK-Wood Effect Extra, an agent for easy separation of the mold from the mortar, before pressing. After each impression, apply a new layer of coating with a brush and, if necessary, mechanically remove the remains of the decorative mortar from the mold. Lack of or too little release agent can lead to sticking of the mold to the mortar, tearing of the mass and poor end result.

When the material dries on the surface (about 2-3 hours when drying under normal conditions), it is possible to form the appearance of joints on the mold seams using the appropriate tool. For more detailed instructions, see the technical data sheet of the product.
